Gillingham 100 Year Anniversary Shirt

To mark the clubs 100 year anniversary of changing their name from New Brompton to Gillingham the club has proposed many special events in celebration. The first on their list was to unveil this kit which is a reproduction of the kit first worn as the Gills.

The most obvious change with this kit is the club badge being on the sleeve and the towns coat of arms in place of where the badge would usually be.

Chairman Paul Scally said in his programme notes for yesterday's game with Dagenham & Redbridge: "As many of you will be aware, while Gillingham Football Club has been established for about 118 years, we are actually celebrating our centenary as being named Gillingham Football Club this coming season.

"As such we have reproduced the playing kit worn by the team 100 years ago (pictured below), and will be playing in that kit next season as a tribute to everyone connected to this fine club over the last century.

"There will be a home and away strip, in both short and long sleeve, and we have reproduced the kit in an identical way to that of 1912/13, including the coat of arms badge and other detail of that time.

"We hope you like the idea, and indeed the strip, those who have seen it so far think it's a stunning design and a great idea."

IMPORTANT PURCHASE INFORMATION FOR GILLY FANS

The shirts are to go on sale in July, but will be able to be pre-ordered - and there is a special deal for season-ticket holders.

Mr Scally explained: "As an additional bonus, we are offering a special deal to the first 2,000 adult season ticket holders who purchase/renew their season tickets for next season.

"For every adult season ticket purchased we will allow you to redeem a voucher in our shop whereby for just £60 you can purchase both the home and away historic collector's shirt, a once-in-a-lifetime offer for a special piece of club history.

"Stocks will be limited and this offer is strictly for season ticket holders only and applicable to adult-size shirts."

Macron Napoli Shirt Manufacture Deal

Italian Serie A club Napoli have announced that they extended their current deal with shirt manufacturers Macron for another three years.
Napoli are currently enjoying good results in recent years following their demotion to Italian Serie C division after they were declared bankrupt. This season they have managed to reach the round of last 16 in the Champions League however they were knocked out by Chelsea losing 5-4 on aggregate.
The new deal with Macron ensures that Napoli will be provided with their technical sportswear together with a new fashion line for leisure wear.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentis said that they are extremely pleased with the work that Macron have done during the past years with Napoli and for that reason they have decided to extend their partnership.

Macron is an Italian sportswear firm which was founded in 1971. It is currently the sportswear manufacturer of various clubs in Europe, most notably West Ham United, Bologna and Mallorca. It will also become the supplier for Aston Villa and Real Betis as from next season. Unconfirmed rumours are also making the rounds that Italian Serie A club Lazio will announce a deal with Macron in the coming days.

LA Galaxy Herbalife 10 Year Deal Extension

The 2011 MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy and Herbalife announced a record 10-year extension to their existing agreement that will see the global nutrition company continue as the official presenting sponsor and jersey sponsor of the Galaxy. The landmark extension to the partnership will run through the 2022 MLS season and is valued at over $44 million, making it the single largest and longest sponsorship agreement for an MLS club in League history.

“Herbalife bet on the Galaxy six years ago and now MLS has exploded in popularity and growth. For them to renew their partnership for this extended length is a tremendous mutual reward for both of us and a demonstration of their belief and faith in MLS,” said Tim Leiweke, CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). “To have this kind stability and strength in a partnership that will take us into the next decade is refreshing for the sports industry.”
